The Verushka bag celebrates Veruschka Lerdorff, Countess Vera Gottlieb Anna von Lehndorff, one of the pioneering supermodels of the 1960s. In 1961, she moved to New York, embracing a bold persona by adopting a Russian identity and wearing all black, which sparked curiosity and rumors around her character.

While her initial foray into modeling faced challenges, she soon gained prominence, collaborating with influential photographers, including Franco Rubartelli. A classic photograph of her draped in a cocoon in the Arizona desert exemplifies her unique and enchanting presence.

As Veruschka's career progressed, she yearned to evolve from being simply a model to becoming a creator. This transformation began during a captivating shoot with Peter Beard in Africa, where she first experimented with body art. Polishing her skin with shoe polish, she discovered the evocative power of applying paint to the body—a revelation that sparked her passion for artistic expression.

With Rubartelli's encouragement, Veruschka took control of her image, becoming her own stylist and makeup artist for Vogue editorials set in exotic locations. She famously stated, "I wanted to sort of leave the human form," reflecting her desire to meld identity and art in innovative ways.
